I would strongly recommend Chamonix, if you haven't been there. It's a great experience going to the top of Mont Blanc, and it's an interesting, lovely town. Also, with a car you would have easy access to Annecy and other great places to visit. If you get to that part of France, by all means don't pass up the Tartuflette -- quite the best potato dish I've ever had. If only I could get Reblochon cheese to make it here................
You have the wonderful advantage of having all of France at your convenience. How I envy that!
