It goes to show that you can never ask too many questions. And documentation as you go along is unfortunately very necessary. After reading the article in the NY Times that Don shared, I noted that using a Travel Agent was not mentioned. Although nothing is full proof, the use of a good agent might also be helpful to avoid the surprise charges. When contacting an agent to obtain rates, ask that they inquire about additional charges. Now you have someone looking after your backside and have further documentation to back you up if need be. If additional charges that were not released come about, your travel agent will also contact the company and write letters on your behalf. Something to consider. Debbie in NC |
