Dear Barbara, Patricia and interested Ziners,
If you're going near Lake Balaton, one place that we found that was unlike any other place was Gyogyto Lake at Heviz, not far from Keszthely. It's Europe's largest thermal lake - five hectares partly covered in water lilies (at right time of year). The spring is a crater some 40 metres deep that disgorges up to 80 million litres of warm water a day, renewing the lake every two days or so. The surface temperature averages 33 degrees, and never drops below 26 degrees. Everyone hires rubber car tubes, and you float around the lake. You can also get massages, pedicures etc here.
