Subject: Portugal Web sites
Hi Ziners,

Here are some links to help you if you are planning a trip to the wonderful world of Portugal:

http://www.pousadas.pt/contents.html (by the Portuguese government, I think); http://www.geocities.com/Paris/4118/index01.htm (a commercial site with a lot of good info on Portugal if you ignore the junk); http://orb.rhodes.edu/index.html (if you get serious about research); http://www.petrabax.com/paradors.htm (info on Spanish paradors if you decide to cross the border); http://www.strawberry-world-lisbon.com/ (good info on Lisbon); regaleiramail.telepac.pt (the e-mail address of the wonderful quinta that we toured in Sintra that required an advance reservation. You will enjoy this 2 hour stop.)

We stayed in pousadas except in Porto (Hotel Infante de Sagres) and Lisbon (Hotel Tivoli). The pousadas are nice to exquisite, but the staff really seemed to care at every stop except Batalha. Special mention goes to Pousada Ria in Aveiro and Pousada Rainha Santa Isabel in Estremoz.

If you can stretch your time, include Manteigas and Monsanto for special views of natural beauty.

Happy touring,
