|Subject: Re: Alaska cruise|
My husband and I did an Alaskan cruise two summers ago on Celebrity Mercury; it was wonderful! Celebrity has a naturalist on board who is extremely knowledgeable and gives daily lectures and commentary from the bridge.
I have a few suggestions. If you are sailing north to Seward, you should try and get a starboard side stateroom, if you are sailing south, get one on the port side. That way you will have a land view. I would certainly suggest doing the ship's tours. They may be expensive but they are reliable and, as someone else has said, you won't miss the boat! I would also suggest adding on land arrangements and seeing Denali -- we did the train ride from Anchorage to Denali, stayed over there, visited a husky farm, and could even have taken a helicopter ride over Mount McKinley if we'd had the guts! One last thing -- take binoculars, preferably one pair each.
You are in for a treat!
