Your mention of Christian Vinassac triggered a flood of wonderful memories. He was such an innovative chef, ahead of his time. Every meal we ever had at Napoleon was a standout. Do you remember his Surprise Soup with a pastry crust, unheard of in those years? Rumour had it that Christian and Elizabeth moved back to France after Napoleon's untimely demise, certainly a great loss for the Toronto dining scene.
