Everyone I know says that the French are unfriendly to Americans who don't speak any French. I didn't meet any unfriendly people there. I speak a little French and it seemed if I started out with some French it was appreciated.

One guy I met in Paris told me it's not that the French hate Americans - they hate anyone who's not French! 8-)
