|Subject: Re: Budget Paris hotel needed|
Back in May 2001 when I spent 5 nights solo in Paris I stayed at the Hotel Royal Phare. http://www.hotel-royalphare-paris.com/index.html It's a 2 star with *excellent* location - easy walk to Eiffel Tower, just around the corner from rue Cler, above a small supermarket, stone's throw to metro, ...
Prices from the web site: Double, shower 63 euro Double deluxe, shower 70 euro
(I do not know if those rates vary with the time of year)
I had booked *months* in advance my fax and received confirmation at that time and when I arrived they had no record of my booking but the lovely lady on reception found me a room in Royal Phare anyway. Moral to the story - re-fax for confirmation closer to arrival :)
The bathroom is small as to be expected - from the toilet one could reach through the shower to the wall on one side and to the wall on the other :) But I could see the top of the Eiffel Tower out my window from my bed ... I was on the fifth floor and stairs were certainly the way to go although there is a lift (I used the lift with my pack on my back and couldn't turn around to press the button for my floor!)
But I highly recommend the hotel and it's location as value for money.
