I had not thought of using Padua as a base and it is an excellent suggestion. I note that one can get to Venice in about 35 minutes on the train and that they run very often. The hotels there are also much less expensive than in Venice. If we wanted to rent a car to see the rest of the area, everything is quite close. Thanks!
If we were to visit the Naples and Amalfi coast area, and try to see the region by bus and train, could you recommend a city that would be convenient for a base?
I enjoy driving, but have read that having a car in the Amalfi region is more of a handicap. Your thoughts?
