Subject: Re: Question about Malaysia
Hi Shirley,

As it is now some 9 years since we visited Langkawi. I thought another Ziner would have more up to date info for you but so far have not seen any postings. We had 5 days there at the end of a holiday on the mainland.

Langkawi is about an hours flight from Kuala Lumpar and when we visited was just starting to develop its tourism industry. We stayed at the Sheraton which had just opened - all built as cabins using the natural timbers of the island to blend in with the landscape looking out over the water. We hired a car one day and drove around the island - not far to go- saw a beautiful golf course with resident monkeys and had a very hot climb up a hill to some rock pools which had a special legend attached to them.

>From what I have seem in travel news lately and on the TV there are many more resorts on the island now and it would be well geared for tourism. It was a beautiful spot for a relaxing holiday. I think now there would be water sports available, maybe diving too.

Hope this has been of some help to you.
