Subject: Re: Critters in Florida

I am not sure about Boca Raton, but a little further south in Pompano Beach and Fort Lauderdale we definitely deal with no see 'ums. Surprisingly, I have never had much trouble with mosquitos although they usually find me if I am within 100 miles of one.

As to stepping on things on the beach, the only thing I know of is Portugese Man o' War which are like a jellyfish that washes up. I think they usually have warnings posted if there is a problem. Also, I don't know for sure if it is a seasonal problem.
