Some other restaurant recs for your hamptons trip:

Southampton Publick House in Southampton Village: pubby, burgers, etc., good value

George Martin in Southampton Village - informal, american/continental menu - great chopped salad - moderately priced.

World Pie on Main street in Bridgehampton - interesting pizzas, informal.

Estia on Main Street in Amagansett (my favorite): diner-like atmosphere for breakfast & lunch, more upscale but still informal for dinner - moderately priced - great food - southwest-inspired (sometimes!)

Belles - Westhampton Beach - it's in the coffee shop in one of the airport hangers at Gabreski airport - turns into a restaurant at night - cajun-inspired with live music - very informal. I think you need to bring your own wine and make a reservation. (631) 288-3927.

We don't dine in the city too often, but here are two of recent memory that seemed pretty good:

Savore on Sullivan Street in Soho - nice atmosphere, great food - moderately priced for NYC.

Restaurant Above in the Hilton at Times Square (42nd St bet 7 & 8th ave). If you're in that area, it's a great reprise from the hustle of the street - good food - moderate for NYC. They have a terrific pre-theater menu if the location is convenient.

Glad to see Ziners coming to the NY area - let us know if anyone is interested in planning a gtg - we use any and every excuse to get into the city!
