|Subject: Lyon and Lugano|
I read that you are looking for some information regarding Lugano and its surroundings.
I would recommend a visit to the small village of Gandria. It's located east of Lugano and can be reached either by boat (departure from Lugano) or by bus/on foot. There is bus number 1 running from the city center till Castagnola. The best is to get off at San Domenico and then walk towards the lake. After a few minutes you will reach a nice path which follows the lake and from which you have a wonderful view of the area. The village itself is small and a lot of houses are still made of stone. There are some handicraft and souvenir shops and a couple of nice restaurants. If you like you can also cross the lake by boat and visit the Smuggler Museum. There is also a nice little restaurant on that side of the lake.
Another nice village to visit is Morcote http://www.promorcote.ch It can again be reached by boat or the by post car. If you plan to go there don't miss to visit Parco Scherrer and to walk up to the church.
Both visits, Gandria and Morcote, can be combined by going one way by boat and coming back by bus.
Concerning restaurants in Lugano, I can suggest the following places:
Pizzeria Mary, near Piazza Riforma in Lugano Nice place for pizza and pasta
Canvetto Luganese, near post office of Molino Nuovo (a quarter of Lugano) Their menu card is small but usually they serve 1 menu with meat and 1 menu with fish. They also have day specials. http://www.f-diamante.ch/laboratori/canve4.html
Hotel Lido Seegarten They have a wonderful terrace overlooking the lake and they serve very nice menus. http://www.hotellido-lugano.com
Locanda del Boschetto
Some residents of Milan say that it's cheaper to make the trip here than to eat at home. The place doesn't spend much money on decor, other than some rustic alpine wood, and no one puts on airs here. Service is direct in the sort of no-frills trattoria style. Guests can watch the chef cook beef and fish over the glowing coals. He produces a simple but flavor-filled cuisine, which includes a mixed grill of local fish, spaghetti with clam sauce, grilled calves' liver, and several succulent beef dishes. The well-known restaurant is in a wooded area near the highway.

There are other 2 nice restaurants but they are located outside Lugano. The name of the village is Tesserete. There I can recommend:
Ristorante Stazione http://www.besomi-stazione.ch or Ristorante Storni.
I suggest to make reservations at all these restaurants if you plan to go there for dinner.
If you are visiting the city of Lugano and would like to drink a nice cup of coffee and eat a delicious pastry have a rest at Ceresiana. It's located just across the street form the department store Migros.
