|Subject: Re: carrying money & passports|
After hearing local travel guru Rick Steves warn travelers to use a money belt, I decided to purchase and use one. I am glad I did.
On my first day in Roma I was accosted by 4-5 small children who circled me, grabbing at my daypack and reaching for my pockets. I had secured my daypack zippers with 'twisties' thus keeping them from opening the pack and spilling the load onto the sidewalk. Most of my euros, passport and credit cards were in my money belt. As I was whirling around shouting Basta! Basta!, I remember thinking how glad I was that these valuable were in my money belt.
