|Subject: Non-smoking pubs in Ireland?|
I see from an archives search that one of our Ziners said the concept of non-smoking Irish pubs was a fantasy! I Googled it and learn that a (very controversial) smoking ban will go into effect in 2004--too late for our July 2003 visit. I found a small smattering of references to non-smoking venues, including a short list at a site called www.smokefreeworld.com.
We'll be first-time visitors in July, and my husband in particular will be downright cranky if every night turns into a struggle to find a place to eat that isn't smoke-filled. I've already resigned myself to low expectations for getting to enjoy much of the local music--is there any chance that the musicians jam under the stars during the warm summer nights?
TIA for any advice you experts can offer.
