Hi Alan,
One suggestion I would offer is to take the Charles Street streetcar
all the way to the zoo. Visit the zoo and return by riverboat. It
docks at the RiverWalk shopping centre. It's a great way to spend a
morning or afternoon and gets you out of the touristy French Quarter.
RiverWalk has a lot of tourist information so you can find schedules,
rates, etc. there.
I'd also recommend a stop at the Hove Parfumier on Royal Street. It's run by a family, has been around since the 19th century and they make colognes, perfumes, soaps and sachets on the premises - all from natural products. The sales people are very personable. I discovered it one day as I ducked out of the rain onto the shop steps. The sales lady invited me in to stay dry and warm. That was 10 years ago and I still order my cologne from them which they ship up to Toronto! Hove has a website for further information. Lucy in Toronto |
