Subject: Re: Planning for June trip to the Dolomiti - halfboard

You will appreciate 1/2 board if your plans are not to get back to the hotel until late. After being gone all day and bone tired from hiking, I just want to hit the hotel. So, I pick one with a Chef and in the evening, My wife and I have a table with our names on it, a menu in English and great service and food. I have had some of my best meals this way and when I am done, 2 minutes later I am back in my room. Early to bed and ready for another full day.

I was in the Dolomite last September for a week and stayed in Merano (north of Bolzano about 30 minutes) for a few days and also Cortina d'Ampezza. The weather was fine and the scenery was grand. Stayed at the Castle Fragsburg in Merano and the food was exquisite, well appreciated at the end of the day. I thought about Verona but it was too far South of where I wanted to spend most of my time. Have to hit it when I plan for Venice some day.
