Subject: Re: England by rail
I also enjoy train travel and have done two train trips in England. On both occasions, I checked point to point tickets against a railpass and came out ahead by using point to point tickets from trainline.com I traveled by 2nd class and got some cheap day returns and fourteen day advance purchase deals. You can purchase by credit card and they will mail the tickets to your hotel--but not to the USA. We have done daytrips from London to York and London to Cambridge as well as point-point from Holyhead to Chester, London to Glasgow, Edinburgh to York, York to Reading. RailEurope doesn't seem to handle special deals plus adds fees and handling charges.
