We've stayed twice at the Jolly St. Ermin's Hotel--the last time was
last Sept.--and really like it. It's half a block from the St.
James Underground Station and easy walking distance to Westminster,
Buckingham Palace, St. James Park, London Eye, and Victoria
Station. It's a charming older hotel with recently refurbished
rooms that are very nice and comfortable--and the breakfast buffet
is HUGE--even have haggis! The Gatwick Express train runs
frequently from Gatwick Airport to Victoria Station and is geared to
passengers carrying luggage. If you have much luggage, you might
want to get a taxi to the hotel from Victoria station even tho' it's
a fairly short walk. I don't know the Gatwick Express cost as we
used it with a Rail Pass, but don't think it's very expensive, and
the trains run about every 20 minutes. You can do an internet
search for the Jolly St. Ermin's Hotel and get more info. The Thurs-
Sun rates are around $100-110 and maybe a little higher mid-week.
I'd love to hear about the Braemer Gathering when you return. We
just missed it when in Scotland last Sept.
