Subject: Re: Venice Hotel info for Mike
We were fortunate to have Starwood points, so stayed at the Hotel Danieli in Venice. The Danieli is a lovely, very high end, very expensive hotel, but I wouldn't stay there if I were spending Euros rather than free points. If we had not stayed at the Danieli, we would have stayed, again at Deb Weber's suggestion, at the Hotel Ala and booked a superior room on the canal. The Danieli is in a convenient location, just over the Bridge of Sighs from San Marco, but it is incredibly crowded and busy there. The Hotel Ala is a few canals away, but quiet and I think in a more charming area free of so many tourists. Another hotel was highly recommended after we made our decision. I'd definitely check it out next time we were in Venice. It's the Hotel Antico Dodge ( Depending upon your budget you could choose a junior suite over the canal at a comparatively good price. It is in a very convenient location not far from Rialto Bridge.
