Subject: re: One thing I must have
Hi All! My one thing is a binder of all the research I've done prior to traveling. Before virtually all trips, I gather and digest as much information (text and graphic), then reduce it to the fewest pages possible and bind those pages (yes, I have a binding machine) using plastic spines. Once that's done, I've eliminated the need for most of the other supporting documentation, aside from maps. Upon arrival, I have the option of carrying the binder (which weighs only a few ounces) in my backpack or removing the relevant pages and keeping them in my pocket. By doing this, I've already familiarized myself with the venue and can refer to my cheat sheet with minimal effort as needed.
