|Subject: Re: car rental vs other|
Hello Shawn and All,
We rented a car for a week in May from National and paid only $330
US. We picked it up in Tours, France and returned it at CDG in Paris.
I think the decision to rent vs. take trains depends alot on where
you want to go and what you want to see. We kept the car to travel
freely through the Loire Valley and Normandy. It allowed us to go
through many small towns and stop whenever we wanted - something we
wouldn't have been able to do on a bus or train.
Navigating through the French roads was surprisingly easy. Just make sure you buy a good regional map when you get there. Directions on signs are given by town name, not by North, South, East and West. Knowing the names of all the little towns (when traveling on smaller roads) is a big help!
Have a great time! Jennie in Atlanta
