Subject: Re: Italian Social Security number a.k.a. Codice Fiscale
Hello,

If you were born in the U.S.A., you should put Stati Uniti in the box for place of birth on the site for getting a Codice Fiscale. That gave me a number; I tried using it to register on the Trenitalia site and it said the number was not valid. That site also asks for date and place of birth and apparently matches the number with these; I tried it with Stati Uniti, USA, and my city of birth and had no success. Also keeping in mind Paolo's legal warnings, it may be best not to pursue this.
