|Subject: Re: Compact Cameras|
Hello to all Ziners!
I do not wish to start a digital vs. film debate. There is enough of that on the photographic e-mail lists! However, if you choose to purchase a digital camera, please make sure you give yourself plenty of time to become familiar not only with the camera, but with how you are going to store and retrieve your photographs while traveling.
With digital you must either bring many memory cards, or have an alternative way to store the photos until you get back and and download them to your computer. Make sure you know how your are going to store and retrieve your photos and that you have done it several times.
Also, with digital, be careful about storing too many photos on one memory card. If the card is lost, stolen or damaged, you lose them all. With film, one stolen roll is only 36 photos at most.
