Technically, you don't have to tell them, especially since you'll have no checked luggage. You may run into problems on the way home didn't mention if it was a one way flight or not.

The problem is that you'll be checking in in Cincinnatti when you're ticket will be routed from Dayton. Depending on the airline (I've heard of it happening!) they may charge you a penalty for 'short routing' you're ticket to save the couple of hundred of dollars. They may in fact charge those dollars back to you in the penalty, or more. I've heard of this practice with folks flying business class to get cheaper fares, and the airlines really started to crack down on the practice.
