|Subject: Re: Normandy Hotel Recommendations|
last year I slept one night at the Lion d'Or Hotel in downtown Bayeux. Very well located, old charm and helpful staff, but it wasn't cheap and we were forced to accept the half board instead of the B& B. The food was good, served in an upscale setting, but excessively gourmet for our family with two kids.
Caen is a bit offhand as a base for day trips, plus I'm not sure you can visit teh D-Day sites on public transport, except guided bus tours. Bye
