|Subject: July 4th in Philly/New Constitution Center|
Those of you in proximity to the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, area may want to consider including a trip to Philly in your July 4th weekend plans. Tomorrow the new National Constitution Center (NCC) museum and memorial opens its doors to the public for the first time. I had a chance to take a pre-opening tour yesterday, and it looks like it will be a worthwhile tourist attraction. The price is reasonable, too: $6 for adults. For info see http://www.constitutioncenter.org/ There are a lot of other things going on in Philly for Independence Day weekend, including many free events open to the public as part of the "Welcome America" annual celebration. See http://www.gophila.com/ Funny anecdote: A few days ago I was in line at the Post Office near the historic district, and Ben Franklin was in line in front of me! Actually, it was the local well-known actor that portrays Franklin and roams the historic district giving impromptu history lessons to kids and families. I thought it funny that the USA's first postmaster general had to stand in line like the rest of us :-).
Have a good Fourth of July holiday weekend! Brian Wasson Philadelphia, Pa./USA
