|Subject: Re: Hotels in Barcelona And Palma?|
Although we did not stay at the Continental Palacete in Barcelona because
air conditioning had not been installed yet, we did go over to see it, and
it was a delightful, lovely little hotel. We had a reservation and
cancelled it just days before our trip began because of the a/c. According
to another Ziner, Candace from New York, the hotel reported that they have
in the past three weeks since we were there installed a/c. This might not
even be a problem in the fall. We stayed at the Alexandra on Mallorca which
I would not recommend if you can find something better.
Another hotel which looked nice on the Placa Catalunya Hotel Catalunya
Plaza. Check www.tripadvisor.com for reviews.
You do not want to go the Continental on the Ramblas also owned by the same people. The web address is www.hotelcontinental.com It looks just like the pictures. I also looked into the rooms and they were charming. Breakfast is included. The location is wonderful on the Catalunya de Ramblas, in the Eixample section, which is quieter than the Ramblas, and close to the Ramblas and the Placa Ramblas, the center of tourist things. If you like quiet, ask for a room off the street.
Barcelona is a very expensive hotel city and this one is 125 Euros, I believe--about $150/night which is reasonable! I am working on my Barcelona report today and look for it to be posted today or tomorrow.
