|Subject: Portugal in September/October|
We are planning on arriving Lisbon October 15th and have two alternate plans in mind...your advice/suggestions would be MOST WELCOME!!
A....get into Lisbon for 5 nights, doing the sights and perhaps taking a train up to Fatima one day...then training up to Porto for 5 nights in town and either picking up the car then to drive over to Bitetos/Regua/Pinhao/Vila Real/Lamego for 4-5 days and heading down along the coast to Aveiro, into Curia (spa area above Coimbra...love mineral baths) and back out to Figueira da Foz, then down to Nazare, next Sintra/Guincho/Cascais/Estoril area for a few days before heading down to the Algarve for a week of R& R at a timeshare at the end of which we would give up the car and train back to the airport..
Variation of A....instead of driving around the towns mentioned in the Porto area/train to same and return to Porto and then pick up the car and head south.
B...pick up the car at the airport upon arrival and drive up to Porto hitting the towns mentioned above ... give up the car in Porto and train down to Lisbon when done, stay 5 nights and then train down to the Algarve and rent a car for zipping around there and drive back to the airport..
The intent here is to train one way and drive the other, even tho we've been warned time and again about the bad drivers...but, we put on 2300 miles in Italy a couple of years ago and came thru it okay.
Our entire trip will be 33 days in Portugal and we are flexible.
Please let me hear from you....thanx again...Lucille Gioello
