Depending on where this fits into the rest of your itinerary, you may want to consider Lucca, in western Tuscany. It's large enough to be interesting for a few days and small enough that most of the tourists don't stay overnight. Train station is close in and the old city is encircled by a large greenspace/park. It's described in one of the Travelogues on the 'Zine site.
