|Subject: Re: Planning next trip to Paris|
One of the features I like about Cheap Sleeps in Paris is that they tell you some of the reasons they don't like a place. Also, I tend to look at the section that's devoted to a little more money, but worth it. You'll find some high 2 star hotels that way. Paris hotels are taxed by how many stars they have - the more stars, the higher their taxes - and so some of the great little 2 star places are quite wonderful, they choose not to accept that third star thus having higher taxes and getting a more demanding clientele. You just have to seek them out and know how to read between the lines sometimes.
Thanks for the Insight Guide recommendation. I'll have a look at it. I have a map of Paris that was included in a Frommer's Paris book a couple of years ago that I really like. It's a large fold-out map and I find the street names printed large enough to easily read. However, it's getting a bit ratty and torn and I've been looking for a new one. Thanks for the tip!
