I am planning a trip early next month via car from Ohio to Vancouver Island. The car is necessary for skis and kayak.

Our main area of actual visits will include Astoria, Oregon, Columbia River Gorge, Mt. Hood to ski (just for the novelty), the west side of Olympic penninsula, over to Victoria via Port Angeles, 3 nights in Victoria - Butchart gardens and back home again.

Any recommendations on places to stay (reasonable), restaurants and sights to see would be appreciated.
