The absolutely best seafood restaurant in Astoria is called Ship Inn. It overlooks the Columbia River & is owned by an English or Australian couple (can't remember which) & is more of a tavern than fancy restaurant. It is on Marine Drive...main street through town & is just under the bridge that goes across the Columbia to Washington state. Food is always delicious & very inexpensive. The museum in Astoria is right on the Columbia, too, but further east, from Ship Inn. It is a good museum about Astoria's past & shipping & fishing. Don't know if you can ski Mt. Hood in the summer but I don't think so. The trip to Timberline Lodge, tho, is lovely & the lodge is interesting.
Have a great trip.
