Hi Amelia and fellow Ziners!
It's been two years since my last trip to SF, but we had a spectacular meal at Gary Danko's. Not cheap, but wonderful food and wine and a knowledgeable, friendly, and unpretentious staff. Rose Pistolas was also very good. There was a fantastic tiny Italian (Tuscan, if I remember correctly) hole-in-the-wall named L'Osteria del forno. I think it was more or less across the street from Rose Pistolas. I don't know if it's still there, but if it is, try it! It was run by a couple older Italian ladies who came to SF just a few years ago. Authentic and delicious Italian food.
There's a WONDERFUL coffee roaster in the North Beach area, Graffeo. They don't sell coffee drinks, just roasted whole beans and ground coffee. Take some home and try it.
Oh, and the petrale sole at the Tadich Grill! A must! Sigh.....soooooo much great food in SF, and so little time and money!
