I stayed at a B& B in Victoria back in 1998. All contact details are on the web site: http://www.elklakechalet.com/
The Elk Lake Chalet is about 15-20 minutes away from downtown Victoria by public bus.
Mum and Dad stayed there too on a different trip that year and they had a hire car and found it very convenient.
Pam and Gil can pick you up from downtown for a small fee if you prefer, or will pick you up for free from the closest bus stop. They are lovely friendly people and I felt very comfortable there.
I sought out a restaurant in Victoria when I was there as I had heard that Mel Gibson said they made the best lasagne - ever! That was good enough for me. The lasagne was indeed brilliant :) My trip notes say it was on (or just off Board Street) and it is called Pagliacci's. I didn't make a reservation but probably should have? The menu was great reading. Megan Brisbane, Australia
