Hi Ziners,
There are so many places in the world on my to see list that I don't plan to go back to places where I've already been, at least not to the very same places. I will certainly go back to Italy but focus on another area! However, there are a couple of things I wouldn't do. Sometimes a place isn't enjoyable because of the time of the year or the type of visit. For example, we spent several terribly hot hours at San Gimignano in Tuscany in June 1995 and were not able to feel the magic. Five years later, we went back for a week's stay in October after reading raves about it and discovered the wonders of the darkened streets when the daytrippers had left. We were glad that we gave the town a second chance. Secondly I wouldn't stay too far away from the centre in a city - too far for downtime at the hotel or pension. This past March we stayed in Naples in a nice business class hotel which required transit. Next time we will pay extra to stay more centrally. As far as a destination I have done, that would be Florida. We spent 4 months there when my children were young (my husband was loaned to a local company). We did everything from Miami, Disney, St. Augustine, Sanibel, Sarasota, Homosassa Springs, etc. Been there, done that, not going back! Frances Toronto, Canada |
