I felt like I lost a weekend when I visited Stratford-Upon-Avon. The village seemed to me to be one big Shakespeare gift shop populated by tour groups. We did see a production of Hamlet but it was not as good as what we could have seen in London. We stopped at Warwick Castle nearby also but all I remember is trying to avoid peacock droppings as we walked around.
I have been to other more enjoyable, historic villages in England to which I would gladly return. But not Stratford.
