Subject: Re: Ancient Cultures |
Hi Frances,
When Lucy metioned Canyon de Chelly in Arizona, I was reminded of our visit to Bandelier National Monument in New Mexico. Bandelier is not overrun with visitors, or at least it wasn't during our winter ski/tour trip to New Mexico, and the site is well protected and preserved. It was very evocative, and though I knew that ancient cultures had built cities in North America, it wasn't until I experienced Bandelier that the scope and size of their endeavors had any real meaning for me. We loved northern New Mexico and would like to return. It had scenic beauty, history, the experience of another culture (we visited pueblo towns), good food and great activities. I am heading off on an entirely different type of adventure, to Philadelphia, Paris, and New York. Debbie Pittsburgh |
