You are taking the perfect trip for a visit to Fallingwater, Frank Lloyd Wright's amazing home that he built for Edgar Kaufmann, a department store magnate in Pittsburgh. The house cantilevers over Bear Run (the stream that runs beneath the house) in a phenomenal integration of architecture with its surroundings. A poll of the Americian Institute of Architects voted it the best all-time work of American architecture.

Fallingwater is about a 90 minute drive southeast from Pittsburgh. You should have advance reservations before you drive out because their tours do fill up. You can find all the information at

If you are lucky, you will see it as I did during the rain which brings a special meaning to Fallingwater.

Have a great trip!
