Subject: Re: "been there, done that, not going back!"
Hi Candice and Ziners:

Good evening, Candice. You asked me to tell you more about why I hated Haiti.

We didn't hate Haiti, quite simply, we were not prepared for the abject poverty - heard about it and certainly we've seen poverty before, but this was different. Perhaps we've led a sheltered life....

It is certainly an interesting place and I wouldn't be able to say I didn't like it had I not been there, so for that I'm grateful. I will also add that it was in the days of Baby Doc, but I don't think it's that much different now than it was. The ocean has the most incredible hue and the vegetation is lush, but the poverty was so overwhelming it was very difficult to enjoy anything about the destination. No, Candice, we would not go back.... not even for the Barbencourt Rum.

I hope this has answered your question. Sara, in Tucson
