|Subject: Next week in Egypt|
Good afternoon !
Today is the first of September, and after an scorching summer, it has begun to rain ... a bit depressing for the people coming back from their holidays, but I have something to look forward. I am heading for a short vacation in Egypt during the next week. IŽll be doing the usual cruise along the Nile, and then a couple of days in Cairo before heading home.
Everything is more or less ready, but IŽd love to pick your brains and get some recommendations. We will have free time in Luxor, Assuan and Cairo.
I was hoping to be able to get to an spice and food market (the cinammon I bought in Jaipur was finished last Christmas, and it was one of the best I have ever tasted). Has anybody gone to one of these markets, and can recommend the experience?.
I will be carrying a simple Pentax point-and-shoot camera, and my new Nikon Coolpix 2100. I know that you must declare if you are bringing a video camera into the country ... but what about the digital ones? Did anyone have to declare it? Any problem taking pictures at the Egyptian Museum in El Cairo? Any favourite film brand that will bring out the mummies colours in all its splendor?
I really, really hope we donŽt have one of those galabiyas parties at the boat ... I wouldnŽt fancy being dressed like a mummy (although Cleopatra wouldnŽt be bad ...).
Bye, and thanks to everybody,
