We agree with Paolo, the best way to visit Croatia is with ferry boat. CÚcile and I spent 1 month in Croatia in 2000.
After visiting Zagreb,we used bus to go to Split (about 6 hours ride). But from Split we took boat of Jadrolinja lines.
We stopped in Hvar,Korkula and Dubrovnik. And from Dubrovnik we go back, with a night ferry, to Rijeka. We visited also Istria; we stayed in Rovinj.
We used Croatia Lonely Planet as travel book informa- tions. People in Croatia are very helpful; it was not expensive for food and private room or/and apartment. The country is very safe.
Between Split and Zagreb, we crossed a region named Krajina. We saw houses destroyed and burned during the war. We saw bullet impacts on some walls... We met a lot of tourists from Germany and Italy. Please let us know if you want some tips.
Bon voyage! CÚcile and Marc Quebec city,Canada
