Subject: Re: Santa Monica/ Venice Restaurants

We stayed in Marina Del Rey for a week in August, and tripped over a restaurant in Santa Monica called Il Ristorante di Giorgio Baldi. They actually have a web site: Although the article linked to the web site mentions a lot of celebrity diners, we saw none, and had a lovely evening. It is small, moderately expensive, and really great food. It is billed as Tuscan because the owner is from Tuscany. It was certainly authentic. I do not know what you mean by fancy--dress or price. If you mean dress, I doubt there is anything in the area that is fancy. If you mean price, this one is on the fancy side--about $75 per person with wine, appetizers, entrees, vegetable and shared desserts.

Make sure to call for reservations, as far in advance as you can.
