|Subject: Re: Alaska Marine Highway vs. cruise ships|
An alternative to the AMH and the cruise ships is this modern sternwheeler. It combines the small size and manuverability of the AMH ferries with the luxury and prices of the cruise ships. They have an 11 night inside passage cruise that visits many areas the cruise ships can't reach. It is a relativley modern ship being built within the last 10 years. A bow ramp allows the passengers to go ashore on the shoreline, so you are not limited to ports that have docs.
I saw her traveling through the Montelake cut in Seattle via the locks. She is quite impressive.
