Just a quick comment on using the metro in Paris with luggage - I'm not sure which stations you'll be using, but your biggest problem is likely to be if you are using a station that has turnstiles to get through to get to the platforms. I had a backpack and managed to get through the turnstile at the Opera station, but I had to arrange myself just so. (There was a turnstile that yours hips pushed through and then there was a heavy door on the other side of the turnstile.) If you are carrying things as well as pulling a case it may be awkward.
That being said, once I was through it was relatively hassle free (I was travelling off-peak so there was room to move once on the train). :) Megan Brisbane, Australia
