Subject: Altitude Sickness
Hi Ziners,

I dislike taking medications, especially at altitude when I really am not sure how my system will react. Early on, I was told that the 2 things necessary to avoid it are (1) no alcohol for at least three days before the trip [applies to flying too] (2) drink lots of water while flying and skiing, as the high altitude sucks all that moisture right out of your system.... AND you don't even know it as it evaporates immediately or sooner. I ski at Vail, which is over 12000 feet and never had any symptoms of sickness. My home elevation is about 400 feet.
