Subject: Re: Alsace in february
Julia, We have just come back from Alsace. Our plan was to follow the Route des Vins d'Alsace and to break our trip into 2 segments. The first one would be directed towards Strasbourg and the second towards Colmar. For each of these segments we would base ourselves in a small place. For Segment 1 we stayed at the Hotel les Vosges in Klingenthal (less than 10 kilometers from the bigger town of Obernai.) Klingenthal is a very small village. The hotel was very satisfactory (even has an indoor swimming pool). Not having made reservations in advance, we got a room with pretty basic furniture but a good bathroom. That was reflected in the low rate of EUR58, not including breakfast. Their dining room serves good meals. It was very easy to get to Strasbourg from there.

In Segment 2 we stayed at the Hotel Munsch in St. Hippolyte. They have a web site: The village is bigger than Klingenthal and has a few restaurants. The restaurant in the hotel is the best one in the area. We chose a Chambre Moderne. It was well furnished and came in at EUR76 + Tax of EUR1.50. Breakfast was extra. St.Hyppolite is attractive and not very far from Colmar. We'll get around to posting descriptions of these hotels as well as hotels in Brussels and Bruges in TheTravelzine hotel database. Hope this is of some help.
