Dear Candice,
One of things that we discovered on this trip to Prague, Vienna and Salzburg was Mike the Chauffer. Mike picked us up in Vienna (so nice to be met at the airport) and drove us to Prague - the price is just a few dollars more than the train (in Canadian $) - we ended up doing a side trip to a town called Valtice and did wine tasting - the town was lovely but the wine - well, the caves were interesting to see. Here is mike's web site http://www.mike-chauffeur.cz click on more info then on Transfers Abroad - Panoramic Transfers - he drove us both to and from Vienna - 0n the way back again did a side trip to small town called Cesky Krumlov - a jewel of a town and Mike organized an English tour for us as we were only there a very short time - it was well worth it - we also had a very sunny although somewhat cool day. While in Prague Mike also organized a tour for us to Terezin - it was a transfer concentration camp during the war - again an English tour was organized. We found his services excellent - he speaks English very well and is a charming man. I think worth checking into. The main thing for us was a timing issue - on arrival we did not have worry about getting to the train station and as well did not have to wait 5 hours for the train which left in afternoon and we arrived in Vienna in the morning. Re: Salzburg - we booked our Marionette tickets from here - it was amazing - I filled in the form and within 5 days had the tickets in hand - we did discover that tickets were available as it was not a busy time (september). As well there are short concerts which we found out about at the tourist office - we got tickets for a 5 pm one hour concert held in one of the building belonging to St Peter's Church - it was wonderful. Enjoy. Carol Toronto |
