Subject: Re: Vienna Hotel (now Salzburg)
Hi Candice, I will be glad to tell you the name of the hotel I stayed in Salzburg because I have a business card from there. I cannot remember the name of the hotel in Munich since the information is buried in a box of pictures what still have not made it into an album.

The hotel in Salzburg is a small hotel and at the time was very reasonable. It is not in the Old Town but an easy enough walk to and from there though a bit of a hill coming back. The name is Alstadhotel Wolf-Dietrich. It is labeled an Austria Classic Hotel. It does have a restaurant which was pleasant, but the food was gourmet/organic rather than Austrian. I believe I ate there once, maybe twice. I had read about the hotel in a brochure from a travel agency. And I must admit that beyond its location and cost, I wanted to stay there because it is run by the Familie Schmelzle. It is not very often I run into my family name, and I thought it would be neat to meet a member of the family, which I did.

I can tell you that the hotel I stayed in in Munich is near Marianplatz, the main square. My only problem with it was that it was a bit far from the area where most of the bus tours left from near the train station. I got my exercise. I chose that area since I travel alone often and like to stay in an area where I know I can go out alone at night without problem.

Enjoy your trip. Joan from Rockford
