Subject: Bangkok, HK, Hanoi eating |
Hi Rose,
Have a wonderful trip. For dining suggestions in some of the cites you'll visit, mine are: Hanoi - Cha Ca La Vong - very old restaurant. Only serve one dish which is a grilled fish dish. Very cheap. Seasons - Across the street from the Metropole Hotel - has an upstairs and downstairs, one serves french, the other vietnamese. Both are excellent. Have a drink and/or a meal at the Metropole, it's a gorgeous hotel.
Bangkok - My favorites are Lemongrass and Cabbages and Condoms
for thai food. Both inexpensive.
Sala Thip at the Shangri-La Hotel is a lovely spot for dinner on
the water.
Don't worry about the smell of fish, worry about the smell of
durian!
Hong Kong - M on the Fringe and Bamboo are two of my favorites.
Grissini's in the Grand Hyatt is the best italian in HK, though
very expensive - it has the most awesome views of HK. For great dim
sum, you'll have to ask your hotel concierge as these places are
generally in office buildings and can't be seen just by walking
around. There is a great one in the Prince's building in Tsm Tsha
Tsui but there are many.
For the best shopping, don't miss Stanley Market.
Regards,
Candice in NYC
